Real Estate Digital Products Suite — A Case Study

Integrating technology with real estate — building a full digital product suite for property inspections and presentations across Denmark

Meta description: How WhizCloud partnered with Real Estate Digital Products Suite since 2017 to build a comprehensive digital real estate product suite — condition reports, interactive LOGIQ reports, housing magazines, climate tools, and more — empowering sellers and buyers across the Danish property market.

TL;DR

We built a full digital product suite for Real Estate Digital Products Suite, a Danish real estate inspection and technology company, in a partnership that started in 2017 and continues today. Using React, Node.js, PHP, and AWS, we delivered six distinct digital products — Condition Report, LOGIQ, Housing Inspiration, Housing Presentation, Climate Magazine, and Climate Calculator — that together cover the entire property lifecycle from inspection to sale. The result: a technology backbone that empowers sellers with data-driven insights, gives buyers an engaging and visual property experience, and positions Real Estate Digital Products Suite as a digital leader in the Danish real estate market.

Problem Overview

The Danish real estate market relied on static, paper-based inspection reports and disconnected property presentation tools. Sellers had no way to present properties in an engaging, digital-first format. Buyers struggled to understand complex condition reports without visual context. Energy efficiency data existed in isolation with no interactive tools to help homeowners act on it. Real Estate Digital Products Suite needed a technology partner who could build an end-to-end digital ecosystem — not a single tool, but an integrated suite of products covering every stage of the property journey.

  • Condition reports were static PDFs — no digital, interactive, or visually enriched equivalent existed
  • Property presentations relied on generic formats with no seller branding or customisation
  • Buyers had no way to visualise how they could improve or modernise a property after a viewing
  • Energy efficiency data was complex and inaccessible — no tool helped homeowners understand or act on it
  • No centralised system connecting on-site inspections to report generation and government submission

Role & Responsibilities

  • Role: Full-stack development team and long-term technology partner
  • Responsibilities:
    • Design and build all six digital products end-to-end — Condition Report, LOGIQ, Housing Inspiration, Housing Presentation, Climate Magazine, and Climate Calculator
    • Build the inspection data capture system and government report submission pipeline
    • Develop PDF-to-HTML conversion engine for LOGIQ interactive reports
    • Create fully customisable magazine and flipbook generation for Housing Inspiration, Housing Presentation, and Climate Magazine
    • Build the Climate Calculator — an interactive energy efficiency visualisation tool
    • Integrate external services — Flipsnack, LaserTryk, BoligDok, Mandrill, Slack, SMS, and Rollbar
    • Architect and maintain AWS infrastructure, storage, and deployment pipeline
    • Ongoing feature development, product evolution, and platform maintenance since 2017

Project Context

  • Timeline: 2017 — ongoing (7+ years)
  • Team: Dedicated cross-functional team — frontend, backend, DevOps, QA, project lead
  • Purpose: Build a complete digital product suite for a Danish property inspection and real estate technology company — covering everything from government-grade condition reports to buyer-facing interactive magazines and energy tools
  • Constraints: Government compliance for condition report submission, complex PDF-to-HTML conversion requirements, full per-seller branding customisation across multiple products, and integration with multiple Danish property market systems

My Approach

We began by mapping the full property lifecycle from Real Estate Digital Products Suite's perspective — on-site inspection, report generation, government submission, buyer presentation, and post-sale energy guidance. Each product was designed to serve a distinct moment in that journey while sharing a common data and branding infrastructure underneath. Products were built and launched incrementally, validating each with real users before moving to the next.

  • Discovery: Mapped every touchpoint in the seller and buyer journey — from first inspection to final handover
  • Product architecture: Designed a shared infrastructure for branding, data, and notifications that all six products could build on
  • Compliance-first for reports: Condition report submission pipeline was built to meet Danish government requirements before any frontend work began
  • Iterative delivery: Launched products one by one — Condition Report and LOGIQ first, followed by the magazine suite and climate tools

Research & Insights

Key Findings from Discovery

  • Buyers found traditional condition reports hard to interpret — visual enrichment and interactive elements significantly improved understanding
  • Sellers wanted their branding on every product — fonts, themes, imagery, and layout customisation were commercially essential
  • Housing presentations needed to work on any device — sellers editing content from smartphones on the go was a real requirement
  • Energy data was available but impenetrable — buyers and homeowners needed a visual, interactive tool to understand and act on it
  • Print and digital delivery needed to coexist — some buyers wanted a physical magazine, others a digital flipbook

Competitive Research

  • No single platform in the Danish real estate market offered inspection reports, interactive reports, housing magazines, and climate tools in one ecosystem
  • Existing condition report tools were purely functional — none offered an enriched, buyer-friendly digital version
  • Property presentation tools were generic — per-seller branding and on-the-go editing were not available in the market

User Persona

  • Name: Kasper
  • Role: Real estate agent, Denmark
  • Goals: Present properties professionally with his agency's branding, give buyers an engaging digital experience, simplify the condition report and government submission process
  • Pain Points: Static PDFs that buyers don't read, no branding on inspection outputs, no digital tool to show energy improvement potential to buyers

Information Architecture

  • Condition Report — on-site data capture, system processing, and automated submission to the Danish government website to generate Tilstandsrapporter, Eftersynrapport, and Energimærker PDFs
  • LOGIQ — PDF-to-HTML conversion engine that transforms condition reports into interactive digital versions with images, enriched content, and clickable links
  • Housing Inspiration — customisable magazine blending current property images with inspirational visuals, articles, and pricing examples, converted to interactive flipbook format
  • Housing Presentation — auto-generated, seller-branded property presentation using photographs and dynamic text, fully editable from any device
  • Climate Magazine — energy efficiency magazine featuring articles, photographs, and calculations showing the financial and environmental benefits of home improvements
  • Climate Calculator — interactive tool that visually showcases potential energy improvements and their impact on climate and household budget
  • Shared Infrastructure — branding configuration, notification system, background job monitoring, and communication layer shared across all products

Visual Language

Each product in the suite had its own visual purpose — from the clinical accuracy of a government condition report to the aspirational warmth of a housing inspiration magazine. The design challenge was building a system where per-seller branding — fonts, colours, themes, imagery — could be applied consistently across all six products without custom development for each client. The result was a flexible template engine that made every output feel bespoke while being fully automated underneath.

Wireframes & Early Ideas

Early wireframes focused on two extremes — the Condition Report submission flow, which had to be precise and government-compliant, and the Housing Inspiration magazine, which had to feel premium and visually engaging. LOGIQ went through several iterations to find the right balance between preserving the integrity of the original condition report and enriching it with interactive elements that made it genuinely useful for buyers. The Climate Calculator was prototyped early with homeowners to ensure the energy data felt actionable rather than technical.

Designing Solutions

Problem: Condition reports were static PDFs with no digital equivalent and no automated government submission

  • Built an on-site data capture system where client representatives enter property details directly into the platform
  • System processes all data through required steps and submits automatically to the Danish government website to generate Tilstandsrapporter, Eftersynrapport, and Energimærker PDFs
  • Zero manual submission steps — from inspection data to official report without human intervention

Problem: Buyers found condition reports hard to understand without visual context

  • Built LOGIQ — a PDF-to-HTML conversion engine that transforms condition reports into fully interactive digital versions
  • System extracts data from the PDF, integrates it into HTML, and enriches it with images, interactive links, and additional buyer-friendly content
  • Buyers can explore the report visually rather than reading a static document

Problem: No engaging, branded way to present a property to buyers after a viewing

  • Housing Inspiration magazine blends current property images with inspirational visuals, articles, and pricing examples — showing buyers how spaces can be modernised
  • Housing Presentation auto-generates a seller-branded property magazine from photos and dynamic text — fully editable from smartphone, tablet, or PC
  • Both products are initially created as PDFs then converted to interactive Flipsnack flipbooks; LaserTryk enables printed hard copy delivery on demand

Problem: Energy efficiency data was inaccessible and buyers couldn't act on it

  • Climate Magazine delivers in-depth articles, photographs, and financial calculations showing the real-world benefits of energy improvements per property
  • Climate Calculator gives homeowners an interactive, visual tool to see how specific changes impact their energy rating, finances, and environmental footprint
  • Both products make complex energy data approachable and actionable for non-technical buyers and sellers

Tech & Implementation

  • Frontend: React — responsive, component-driven UI across all six products
  • Backend: Node.js and PHP — Node.js for real-time processing and async operations; PHP for content management and report generation workflows
  • PDF Generation: mPDF library for end-to-end PDF creation across all report and magazine products
  • Storage: AWS S3 for centralised file storage across all products and regions
  • Database: AWS RDS for structured property and report data
  • Queue Management: Bull Queue for background job processing — ensuring heavy generation tasks run asynchronously without blocking users
  • External Services: Flipsnack (PDF to interactive flipbook), LaserTryk (printed magazine delivery), BoligDok (property market integration), Mandrill (email delivery), Slack (operational notifications), SMS (customer alerts), Rollbar (error monitoring)
  • Spreadsheet Export: PHPExcel for data exports and reporting
  • Deployment: AWS infrastructure with CI/CD pipeline and ongoing maintenance routines

  • 7+ year ongoing partnership — the same core team continues to build and evolve the product suite year after year

Challenges & Learnings

  • Government compliance — condition report submission had to meet strict Danish regulatory requirements; any error in the pipeline had real legal consequences, making reliability non-negotiable
  • PDF-to-HTML fidelity — building LOGIQ required extracting structured data from varied PDF formats accurately and enriching it without losing the integrity of the original report
  • Branding at scale — supporting per-seller customisation of fonts, themes, imagery, and layouts across six different products required a flexible template engine, not just a settings panel
  • Print and digital parity — ensuring every magazine product looked equally polished as a flipbook and as a printed hard copy required careful layout and image handling throughout
  • Background job reliability — heavy generation tasks like magazine creation and PDF processing had to run asynchronously without ever blocking or losing work; Bull Queue was the solution that made this reliable at scale

Takeaways

  • A product suite beats a single tool: Building six integrated products on a shared infrastructure gave Real Estate Digital Products Suite a complete digital ecosystem — each product reinforced the others and created a platform that competitors couldn't easily replicate
  • Compliance and creativity can coexist: The same team built a government-grade report submission pipeline and a visually stunning housing magazine — technical rigour and design quality are not in conflict when the architecture supports both
  • Branding is a product feature: Full per-seller customisation across all six products was a major differentiator — in real estate, every agent wants their brand on the work, not a generic template
  • Make complex data visual: The Climate Calculator and Climate Magazine proved that even dense energy efficiency data becomes compelling and actionable when presented visually and in context
  • Long partnerships enable deep products: Seven-plus years with the same team meant we understood Real Estate Digital Products Suite's market, users, and ambitions deeply — that institutional knowledge is what makes the product suite coherent rather than a collection of disconnected tools

Next Steps

  • Expand the Climate Calculator with more detailed renovation cost modelling and ROI projections
  • Add AI-powered property description generation for Housing Presentation from inspector-captured photos
  • Deeper integration with Danish property market platforms for automated case registration and status tracking
  • Mobile app for on-the-go product editing, inspection data capture, and delivery management
  • Continue evolving the product suite as new digital real estate needs emerge in the Danish market
